What is Myobrace?
Myobrace is a revolutionary pre-orthodontic treatment that allows for proper breathing habits to develop – the natural way. If your child tends to breathe through their mouth, snore, or grind their teeth, there is a good chance they have developed poor myofunctional habits. These habits can lead to crooked teeth and TMJ problems.

What can Myobrace do for your child?
Myobrace is a preventive, pre-orthodontic treatment system that addresses the underlying causes of poor myofunctional habits in children, aiming to correct them and promote optimal facial development. Myobrace can help avoid braces or extractions later down the line, which can be uncomfortable for your child.
How does Myobrace work?
Myobrace is a series of removable intraoral devices (a bit like a mouth guard or retainer) which are designed to correct poor oral habits (mouth breathing, snoring, teeth grinding, incorrect swallowing) that can lead to crooked teeth in later life. If used correctly, Myobrace can help reduce the need for your child to have braces later on down the line, and even if they do, it’s likely to be much less of a gruelling process due to their correct myofunctional habits.
The devices only have to be worn for 1-2 hours a day and overnight – meaning your child will be free of them for the majority of their waking hours – making eating, playing, and laughing easy!
The device will help your child develop proper breathing (which is through the nose). They will also help with your child’s tongue placement and swallowing habits.
Your child will also have appointments with our certified Myobrace educators to do their Myobrace exercises. These are made fun with our friendly team and performed in our specialist Myobrace Room and are designed to retain oral musculature!

The Myobrace Advantage
Rather than just treating the symptoms of crooked teeth, Myobrace gets down to the root cause, meaning the crooked teeth are much less likely to return in your child’s later life.
Myobrace doesn’t just focus on teeth – it promotes your child’s overall health by improving their myofunctional habits.
Additional braces may be needed at a later stage, and it will be a much easier treatment to be done having undergone Myobrace treatment prior.
Ideal timing for treatment?
The ideal time for your child to undergo this revolutionary preventative treatment is between the ages of 3 and 15. This is because this is during their peak growth phases, where changes are the easiest to be made.

Myobrace FAQs
Myobrace treatment times vary, but typically range from 18 to 24 months (or 1 to 2 years). The length of treatment depends on factors like the child’s age, the severity of their dental issues, and their compliance with the treatment plan.
Myobrace treatment aims to address the underlying causes of crooked teeth and misaligned jaws, often reducing or even eliminating the need for braces later on, but in some rare cases, a short period of braces may still be needed for final alignment.
While Myobrace is often successful in achieving a straight smile without braces, some cases may require a short period of braces at the end of Myobrace treatment to achieve perfect alignment or address any remaining issues.
Teeth do not become crooked by chance and the most up-to-date evidence reveals most orthodontic problems are the result of incorrect jaw development.
This restricted development, which can be detected at an early age, limits the space available for erupting teeth and prevents them from erupting into their ideal natural position.
No. During the first few days there may be a small amount of sensitivity. However, after the first few days of treatment, this sensitivity should cease.
For early intervention and addressing underlying oral habit issues, Myobrace is definitely a good option. Although traditional braces might be necessary for more complex cases or when significant adjustments are needed, it is likely that your child’s oral health could be improved without the need for braces.
